The streets of Great Park Neighborhoods® are lined with 10 different species of heritage trees rescued from the former U.S. Marine Corps Air Station El Toro. These trees have been replanted throughout the community, giving the neighborhoods a sense of history and maturity.
Each heritage tree weighs approximately 50 tons and is about 50 years old. The Parasol Tree – the namesake of Great Park Neighborhood's newest community, Parasol Park – is our largest tree, weighing 120 tons and rising to 65 feet. This stone pine was too large to be safely moved, so today this stately tree remains exactly where it was planted in 1952.
