The Orange Bike

Homeowners currently living in Great Park Neighborhoods® have received an orange Felt bike, encouraging them to park their cars and start enjoying the surrounding amenities. More than just a healthy, fun, and eco-friendly way to travel from place to place, the Felt bikes – built by an Irvine-based bicycle company with championship roots – acts as a community builder and a mobile brand ambassador for Great Park Neighborhoods.

Transportation improvements at San Francisco Shipyard™ and Candlestick are envisioned to seamlessly connect new housing, retail, commercial, and parks to the adjacent neighborhoods. Plans for new bicycle routes and an extension of the Bay Trail / Blue Greenway will also create a continuous waterfront route for bikers and pedestrians from the San Francisco Shipyard and Candlestick communities to Downtown.

The Transit Hub is located in the heart of the Valencia community, adjacent to the Valencia Hyatt Hotel. It provides convenient access to bus lines, the three Metrolink stations in the Santa Clarita Valley, and a Park and Ride lot for commuters traveling to the San Fernando Valley and Los Angeles.

Newhall Ranch® plans include a Transit Management Organization that will be available to all residents, to encourage and support participation in carshare and bikeshare programs throughout each village.

A central transit hub is also planned for the heart of Newhall Ranch at Mission Village, to connect the local Metrolink and bus stations within the Santa Clarita Valley.

Downtown Shuttle Service & Future Metro Line Connections

The San Francisco Shipyard will benefit from a shuttle service to downtown San Francisco and local transit hubs. The community is only 15 minutes from downtown via car and just a few blocks from the 44, 19 and T-Third Street MUNI lines.

Future connections to the T-Third Street Muni Metro line and the expansion of BRT (Bus Rapid Transit), local bus routes are anticipated to provide access to downtown San Francisco, Mission Bay, and regional transportation connections such as BART and Caltrain stations. Future BRT routes are planned to provide direct connection to the two largest college campuses in San Francisco: San Francisco State University and City College’s Phelan campus (plus direct access to two regional retail centers).
